Lovely quaint pub, inside it is beautifully set out with a beamed ceiling, plenty of seating, friendly and helpful staff, food was absolutely delicious and all home made would highly recommend

Food was average, staff were unfriendly with a bad attitude, i wont return. Just read other customer points of view, I thought perhaps it was me the staff had an attitude with, but no..... so many people the are of the same opinion, the staff are arrogant, more over, its the older staff who need to get training for a rotten service bordering on rude

Visited today for Sunday lunch. Pre booked. Looked overly busy no searing area to wait for your table. Once seated, we were told to go up for food straight away. Man serving the food made strange comment about having a vegetarian option. Once eaten, we just ordered some more drinks and then was told to leave as they need the table. We were there an hour! No time for dessert and has to abandon drinks on the bar as it’s too cold to finish outside. Gone down hill from last visit. Too greedy on how many covers they are booking in. Never again will we visit.

Have been looking for somewhere that does a Sunday roast properly. This ticked all the boxes. Good choice of meats, perfectly cooked. Excellent pork crackling. Vegetables were fresh and not soggy. Enormous Yorkshire puddings and good gravy. Four very happy customers.

Just had an experience at the f Foldgate with owner/ manager/ boss. A sign on the carvery unit says that excessive leftovers will be charged for. Yes totally agree with that . If you have small leftovers you're to ask for piece of tin foil to wrap it .. yes that's great thankyou. So asked the gent behind bar for piece of tin foil for the 1 sausage that id left .the man looked at my husband with so much disdain. He disappeared into the kitchen to fetch a small plastic container and started to put sausages from the carvery into the pot saying you want sausages for your dog? I shouted from the table we don't want your sausages. I've just got thisone leftover. !! The carvery was amazing as always staff wonderful as always. But I don't have to go to restaurants to beg for sausages for my dogs. If you're behind the counter you should know exactly what your place is offering . Made me feel very uncomfortable.

We came as part of a large group and the staff were incredibly accommodating, polite and helpful. The carvery was gorgeous, the best I've honestly ever had with wonderful Yorkshires. Naturally we did wait a while for food and desserts and had a few miscommunications but these were handled graciously by staff and were to be expected considering our group was over 30 of us. The lady with the red hair (I'm afraid i didn't catch her name) was particularly helpful and answered all our questions and made us feel very welcome, and we never felt a burden. Thank you for having us

Stopped by for a quick lunch with my fiance and dad! Nice atmosphere great to see people enjoying a Wednesday lunch! Loved seeing whitebait on the menu and a great selection of beers! Well worth a stop if you're near

The foldgate inn is lovely inside, you have the quaint pub on one end and the lovely dining area on the other side of the fire place. The staff were lovely and accommodating to our party and their needs. The food (especially the hand made chips) was lovely, I would highly recommend going
